Hi there!
My name is Emily. I'm a Talent and HR professional with early-stage startup experience and a background in social work. I'm also a writer, gardener, and a devoted fan of vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles.
About Me
Education
2011 - 2015
B.S. Human Services
A.S. Psychology
A.S. Education
Nelson University
Early on in my education I was confident I wanted to work with children, but I wasn't sure in what context. I switched my major a couple of times, ultimately landing on a degree focused on social work and counseling. Even though I no longer work with children in my day-to-day, the skills I gained are still invaluable.
I also played on the university soccer team!
Professional Experience
2021 - Present
Talent and People Manager
I was employee #13 at Synex. I built and refined the recruitment and onboarding process there, resulting in an average candidate NPS score of 86.
In my day to day, I develop talent pipelines, source candidates, conduct interviews, coach hiring managers, and onboard new employees.
I've also established a salary benchmarking framework, wrote our employee handbook, conducted team training on hiring practices and inclusivity, onboarded an entry-level recruiter, implemented a new ATS, introduced internal feedback practices like stay interviews, and revised job description practices (resulting in a 25% conversion rate increase and more diverse applicants).
2019 - 2021
HR Generalist
Propensity (formerly known as addapptation)
I was employee #7 at addapptation! I actually started as an admin assistant, but quickly took on many HR and Recruitment-related responsibilities.
I independently sourced, screened, interviewed, and hired to double the team size in 6 months, established unbiased screening criteria, and facilitated workshops for various stakeholders.
I also evaluated and transitioned payroll providers, managed social media pages growing followers by 45%, built the company’s first compliant employee handbook, and managed accounts payable and receivable. Additionally, I selected and collaborated with an external accounting firm on financial tasks and organized company files.
